The most common question people ask about the Rodeo Cook-off is “How do I get wristbands to the private tents?”
Many people who have never been to the cook-off don’t realize that it is basically a small city with exclusive access to private parties. Sure there are a few tents that are sponsored by radio stations or liquor companies. Heck, there’s even a chuckwagon where you can buy a plate of BBQ. However the best place to get your food and beverages is in one of the private tents. There are hundreds of private events happening on the grounds of NRG Stadium and the Astrodome. Seriously, hundreds.
The tents typically range in size from one 40×40 spot, to as many as 4 spots linked together. Every tent that you see is actually there to compete in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo World Championship BBQ Contest. The parties are our way of thanking our supporters and celebrating with our Rodeo friends.
So what exactly goes on in these private tents? I can’t tell you. Just like Las Vegas, what happens at cook-off stays at cook-off. I CAN tell you that’s it’s a darn good time!
Our tent offers unlimited BBQ. You can fill your bellies with as much Brisket, Ribs, Pulled Pork, Sausage, Mexican Street Corn, Chorizo Smoked Cabbage, and desserts as you can handle. We also have an open bar with a selection of beers, hard seltzers, wine, water, and soda. This year we will also be having signature cocktails. (Please drink responsibly.)
I don’t want you to think we just sit around eating and drinking all night. We also dance! DJ Diggy Dutch is returning again this year to keep our toes tapping. His schedule is crazy, but he always takes the time to make sure our tent is the hottest ticket on the Salt Grass Trail.
If you haven’t secured your ticket or wristband to a private party for this year, give us a holler. The donor packages are listed on our website and Facebook. We can even customize packages to meet your needs. The Speed Bumps, our smallest package starts out at $600 for 6 tickets, good for Friday or Saturday night. This is perfect for a group of friends or family who don’t want to miss out on a great time. Additional tickets can be added for $100 each, however, the price gets better the more you buy. Have 14 friends or family that you can get together? Get our Street Signs package. Or 7 people can come on Friday and Saturday. (Ticket required for each person, each night.) We have options!
