The HLSR Calf Scramble Committee held their Progress Show October 10th-11th, at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Brenham, Texas. Addison and her family invited Chris and Amy to visit the show and meet Groovy “in person”. We enjoyed a couple of days spending time with the family and enjoying the beautiful, but hot, weekend in Brenham.
On Sunday, Groovy started her morning with some intense spa time, before the competition. Chris even helped feed her before she went into the ring, to make sure she was pleasantly plump before strutting in front of the judges.
Groovy and Addison took their place among some intense competition. The Judge was fantastic and gave excellent feedback to the Scramblers. She praised Addison for her obvious hard work, saying that once Groovy was pregnant she would fill out nicely, and should finish at the top of the British Breed at the HLSR show in March. (Addison has plans for Groovy to be “with calf” before Christmas.)
Groovy and Addison finished in 4th place receiving a ribbon, but most importantly, their name was announced. It’s always a good day when your name is called in competition.
It was a fantastic weekend and Chris and Amy are so proud of Addison and Groovy. A big shout out to Addison’s parents, Jan and Brad, and her younger sister Saylor. Welcome to the Slow Cookers at Play family! For anyone planning to visit HLSR in 2021. Stop by the Livestock Exhibition and look for DD GIRL CAN GROOVE (Groovy), sponsored by Slow Cookers at Play.
P.S. I know many of you are wondering, so let me put your mind at ease. Groovy is a breeding cow, not an eating cow. There are no plans to put her in the smoker. Chris promised that he was only fattening her up for the Judges, and NOT for dinner.
